Undergraduate Research Opportunities at the Multi-Robot Systems Laboratory

The Multi-Robot Systems Laboratory (MRSL) in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NMSU is seeking undergraduate students interested in robotics to assist with its initialization. The MRSL is a laboratory for research in robotics and autonomous systems, focusing on the mathematical modeling and control of groups of robots composed of agents with different characteristics, including mobile wheeled robots, robot manipulators, and drones. Its goal is to develop models and control strategies that allow diverse robots to cooperate and collaborate

Students are needed to help with configuring different robots and developing the software necessary to communicate with them using ROS and MATLAB. Hence, students with the following background would be ideal:

  • Experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Experience using ROS/ROS2.
  • Experience using Docker.
  • Experience using programming languages including Python, C/C++, MATLAB.
  • Experience with computer networks: IP addresses, routers, switches, etc.

Interested students should send the following to the email luisgb@nmsu.edu:

  • Resume
  • Unofficial Transcript
  • A brief PDF file with a maximum of two paragraphs describing the interest in robotics and autonomous systems, clearly stating any previous experience with Linux, ROS/ROS2, Docker, Python, computer networks, hardware/software integration.
