NMSU Society of Women Engineers Makes an Impact at WE25 Annual Conference in New Orleans
Fifteen students from the NMSU College of Engineering proudly attended the Annual WE25 Conference in New Orleans, hosted by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). This year’s theme, “Together We Rise,” brought together over 20,000 attendees from 85 countries, celebrating the power of diversity, innovation, and leadership in engineering and technology across all genders.
The three-day event was packed with opportunities for growth and connection. Students participated in professional development seminars, attended inspiring keynote sessions, and explored a vibrant expo hall featuring more than 100 exhibitors. One of the major highlights was the world’s largest career fair for women and allies in engineering and technology, where over 400 organizations gathered to recruit, mentor, and empower the next generation of STEM professionals.
Thanks to the generous support of the NMSU College of Engineering, students received full travel and lodging reimbursements. This vital assistance ensured that participants could focus entirely on expanding their knowledge, building professional networks, and envisioning their future careers—without the burden of financial stress. NMSU’s commitment to student success was evident in its efforts to make this transformative experience accessible to all.
Kelsey Sanchez, one of our engineering students, reflected on her experience:
“Attending the SWE conference was a very rewarding experience. I’m excited to follow up on the professional connections I made and apply what I learned to my career goals. I’m proud to have represented NMSU at such a large and inspiring event and to have spent quality time with the amazing women in our SWE section.”
The WE25 Conference not only empowered our students to dream bigger but also reinforced the importance of community, collaboration, and representation in engineering. We’re excited to see how these experiences will shape their journeys and inspire others across our campus.
