New Mexico State University will kick off the 2024-2025 academic year with exciting events for students, faculty, staff and the community. Every August NMSU gives students the opportunity to meet people and explore opportunities through Crimson Kickoff events.
“As students begin moving back to campus on August 18 and all students returning in the subsequent days, I want to encourage all students to take advantage of the many Crimson Kickoff events,” said Renay Scott, vice president of Student Success. “Your belonging on campus is important to me, and Crimson Kickoff is a great opportunity for you to learn about clubs, organizations, activities and opportunities to meet fellow Aggies in the first weeks of the semester.”
Following residence halls opening Saturday, Aug. 17, numerous NMSU organizations will host a variety of fun activities for the community, staff and students to enjoy. The Aggie women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and football teams will each host their season openers in August. Classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 21.
Ala Alhalholy, president of Associated Students of NMSU, said it’s important to recognize the challenges faced by many students whose high school years were disrupted by COVID-19.
“Welcoming them to campus is more than just opening our doors; it’s about creating a strong sense of community and belonging that will be crucial to their success,” Alhalholy said. “Building this sense of belonging is essential—not only to enhance their college experience but also to ensure their persistence and success in achieving their educational goals. This focus on community is at the heart of our efforts in promoting retention and academic achievement. By prioritizing these connections, we strengthen both our students and the university as a whole.”
