About Us

The NMSU Robotics Organization will be providing opportunities and inspiring students at NMSU through the STEM VEX Robotics competition. This club will empower students with many skills for their future careers and provide a space for them to make memories as members of the Aggie community.

In 2018 VEX was the largest robotics competition in the world with over 1,075 teams in attendance. VEX Robotics has local, regional, and yearly in person (and online) international competitions for all grade levels. VEX U is the collegiate level competition that allows more creativity in approaching the competition. Dr. Mahdi Haghshenas-Jaryani, an Assistant professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department and the director of the Bio2 Robotics Laboratory, agreed to be the club’s advisor.

Having a club at NMSU will attract those dedicated students to continue their education in STEM. Moreover, this organization will participate in our community STEM events and create lasting memories for the students. Hopefully one day, we can host a national VEX U competition alongside the UTEP VEX U team. Lastly, VEX and its company partners have various scholarship opportunities for students. Aggies will have a place to learn outside of the classroom, to grow in character, and a place to belong.

Our Mission

Our mission is to (1) provide students with opportunities to develop their technical and social skills, (2) encourage students to pursue STEM fields, and (3) provide a space for them to make memories as members of the Aggie community. The overall goal is to help strengthen students’ transitions to industry after college. To have students value their academic education, give back/participate within their community, and develop their problem-solving skills through building robots.
