About Us

Design Build and fly is a student organization at New mexico state university, we design a plane each year around a new set of rules provided by AIAA we then manufacture a plane using different composites, finally we fly our aircraft in an international competition that will be held in kansas this year. We provide New mexico state students with hands on experience in aircraft analysis and knowledge about aircrafts as a whole. DBF strives to create a positive learning environment for all students where they can put what they are learning in class in a hands on way.

Our Mission

Our Mission

We hope to provide our students experience in conceptual design, multidisciplinary optimization, aerodynamic, structural and propulsive analysis, composite layups, CAD software, fabrication processes and RC fligh this year we are split into three sub-teams each responsible for a different aspect of the engineering process: analysis and design, manufacturing and subsystems.

Monthly Update

This month we are focusing on our design and analysis. We are working towards a set design for this years aircraft. We are showing our new members the basics in the manufacturing process. Our main objective is the proposal which is due october 31st.

This years objective

Urban Air Mobility The objective for this year is to design, build, and test an airplane to demonstrate Urban Air Mobility (UAM) missions. Flight missions will include delivery of the airplane, medical transport, and urban taxi.
