About Us

At the national level, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) serves the engineering community through quality learning, the development of codes/standards, certifications, research, conferences/publications, government relations, and outreach. Here at the NMSU chapter, we offer students the chance to be more involved with the mechanical engineering program at NMSU. As a society, we compete in design competitions, cultivate professional growth, and encourage interaction with other students in the mechanical engineering program. In recent times, we've mainly participated in the IAM3D competition, which is a competition hinged on additive manufacturing. This year we were tasked with designing and building a drone to be able to pick up a payload and fly through an obstacle course. Additionally, one of our future goals is to start participating in national ASME conferences.

Our Mission

The purpose of this organization shall be the advancement and dissemination of knowledge of the theory and practice of mechanical engineering, the presentation of proper perspective of engineering work, and the opportunity to become acquainted with the personnel and activities of the Society (ASME), as well as to promote a professional consciousness and fellowship.
