About Us

Welcome to the New Mexico State University (NMSU) American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautic’s (AIAA) webpage. The NMSU AIAA Chapter provides members with many opportunities to thrive with their education. We focus on facilitating hands on engineering groups, research and private sector exposure, networking, and professional development.

An event we participate in is the Design/Build/Fly competition, where students have build a small aircraft to fulfill a specific mission. All facets of engineering are present with this challenge. We are always available for new members to get involved (see DBF tab for more info)

AIAA officers are constantly looking for company presentations and demonstrations. We hope that providing sight into the field will help motivate and excite students. We also have professors come and present on the work that is being done at NMSU specifically to see if continuing on to a graduate program is something worth pursuing. Various speakers from aerospace companies may also join in our meetings to discuss research and career opportunities.

Finally and most importantly, we aid students in gaining professional skills. We help with resumes and cover letters with NMSU Career Services. We encourage career fair attendance and assist students with marketing themselves in the industry.

AIAA is an organization that wants you involved with other technical organizations. We are here to give you the tools and skills to be a successful aerospace engineer.
